Kerastase Product Reviews (Part 1)

I was given samples of these Kerastase products to try on my hair after buying a full size Discipline Shampoo at David's Salon, Market, Market branch. But before anything anything else, here's a brief summary of my hair problems:

  • I have an oily scalp but the ends of my hair are dry and brittle
  • My strands are fine and my hair is straight which makes me prone to limp and flat hair
  • My hair is color treated. I color it on my own or have it colored in a salon evry 4 months or so depending on my mood or if I have money to spend
  • Moisturising shampoos with lots of oils and silicones make my hair soft and frizz free but give me breakouts on the nape, scalp, or face
  • Using shampoos with sulfates makes my scalp itch and give me hairfall.
My Hair Goals:
  • Bouncy, shiny hair with lots of volume
  • Smooth and frizz-free hair
  • Colored hair that's soft to touch and luster
  • No breakouts on the scalp, face or neck

I apologize if it took me too long to post my review. I made sure that I finished all of the samples and see their full effects on my hair before I share it to everyone. :-)

Product No. 1- Kerastase Reflection Bain Chroma Captive Shampoo and Conditioner

Kerastase Chroma Captive Shampoo and Conditioner

Kerastase Reflection Bain Chroma Captive Shampoo

Description: Colour- radiance protecting shampoo and conditioner for colour- treated hair.

Ingredients: (Shampoo) Aqua/water, sodium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, cocamide mipa, glycol distearate, dimethicone, sodium chloride, hexylene glycol, polyquaternium-53, sodium benzoate, salicylic acid, carbomer, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, tocopherol, butylphenyl methylpropional, limonene, methyl cocoate, linalool, hexyl cinnamal, phenoxyethanol, citronello, sodium cocoate, zinc gluconate, poly (linseed oil), benzyl alcohol, geraniol, sodium hydroxide, citric acid, parfum/fragrance C50758/1. I wasn't able to capture a photo of the conditioner's ingredient list.

Price: This sample is free. But the full size bottle of shampoo and conditioner costs more than Php 1, 000.00 each. It can be bought in leading salons nationwide (David's Salon, Basement Salon, Regine's Salon, etc.)

Pros:
-Has a light floral scent (both the shampoo and conditioner).
-Made my colored hair shiny and bouncy when dry. I found out that you have to use both to achieve the desired result.
-Did not give me breakouts.
-The conditioner is somewhat runny but left my hair soft after rinsing.

Cons:
-Hard to form a lather even if the shampoo contains sulfates.
-Using the shampoo alone made my hair sticky especially when I sweat after a few hours.
-Expensive, thus, not for maintenance unless you are willing to splurge.
-Chemically-laden products.

Verdict:  2/5 for the shampoo and 4/5 for the conditioner. I will not purchase the full size bottle of the shamp[oo because I don't think it works better than drugstore brands. I love to use the conditioner but I might repurchase only if I need to.
