Rules on Love

1. Do not fall in love everytime you fall in bed.

2. Learn to detach emotionally.

3. Sex does not equal commitment.

4. Do not revolve your entire life around him/her.

5. Addiction is bad for your health.

6. Do not cling, act needy or demand.

7. Doormats are for your feet, NOT your heart.

8. It's ok to say NO.

9. Do not grill them, or their friends for information.

11. Treat him/her as you would your bestfriend.

Fx Curl Booster and Finishing Spray

Hello everyone! It's a really cold afternoon and my hands are getting numb! I can't think of a lot of things today but I have to let you guys know about this nice hair product that I discovered recently..saw this at the Landmark and I asked the saleslady if it is a good curlbooster. I often curl my hair using my flat iron to give an illusion of a full-bodied hair (I have a naturally fine and straight hair). However, to my dismay, the curls do not last for even half a day. So I tried this product on my hair to see if it would make a difference...

Verdict:

          I give it a 5/5 rating. I love the effect it gives to my hair making it shiny, more defined, and makes the curls last longer, plus, it has a nice scent too!

Dermstrata's Total Block Gel with SPF 35

Summer days are over and it's raining cats and dogs all over the metro. However, don't be misled by cloudy skies because UV rays can still pass through those clouds and harm our skin. It wasn't my habit to put on anything on my face especially at daytime because I want to avoid having a greasy face at the end of the day. My face is so oily that all the dirt and dust will stick on it only after two to three hours. So my quest for the perfect sunblock continues until I come across Dermstrata. And hurray!!! I finally found my HG sunblock!!!

Dermstrata's Total Block Gel in Big Jar for Php 1,250.00

It is colorless and unscented

As you can see in the picture, I used a small scooper for hygienic purpose.

What I Like:

• Perfect for people with oily and sensitive skin like me
• It is water based and doesn't sting my eyes because I apply it on my whole face
• Works great with my VMV Pore Mattifier, making my skin shine free for hours!
• Doesn't leave a whitish cast 
• It is odorless and colorless. Can be applied before makeup.
• No breakouts and didn't clog my pores

What I Don't Like:

• They reformulated this sunblock which doesn't suit me so I have to order this from them and wait for less than a week
• A little expensive for a sunblock
• Available only in big jars so you have to make sure your hands are clean before you scoop it out or in my case, I use a small scooper from my old night cream to get the amount that I'll use

Verdict:

         I give this sunblock a  5/5. I've been using this for years and I haven't yet come across a substitute for this one. This is truly one of the best from Dermstrata hands down!

Revlon Grow Luscious Lashliner in Graphite

It's been awhile since my last post. I really had trouble retrieving my old blog account hence, my absence. Anyway, here is my two cents on one of my favorite eyeliners in the market, Revlon Grow Luscious LashLiner. 

What I Like:

It comes in three colors and has a soft wax-like consistency for smooth application. I picked the grayish black shade called graphite. It has been a real problem for me when it comes to choosing a smudge free eyeliner that won't leave my eyes looking like a panda at the end of the day. But this one, for its price, is a real steal. It smudges a bit and that makes it look like you applied a smokey eye makeup without much effort. 

What I Don't Like:

One thing I really hate about it, though, is that it breaks so easily when I try to sharpen it. It's like a clay that loses its shape and no matter how careful I am, I couldn't sharpen it without it breaking. And another thing, I don't think it really made a difference when it comes to my lash growth.

Verdict:

I give this a 4.0 out of 5. I really like the color especially when it fades off. I will repurchase and will try the other colors when it runs out.

The Wonder of Acetic Acid on Pimples

Hi there..I've been using this distilled white vinegar for years on my pimples and yet at this moment I can say that this is my holy grail. I've tried lots of pimple cures and treatments ranging from cheap to expensive ones but nothing comes close to the amazing power that vinegar could do to my face. I don't know what happened but I've been breaking out terribly since January and I don't know if this is hormonal or just because of the products that I used and tried. I've tried Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum, mixture of Clindamycin and toner, Dickinsons witch hazel, and a whole lot more. But to no avail. I've been depressed because I can't use makeup (loose powder, mineral,pressed) 'cause I'm allergic to talc so I can't hide all the pimples and the marks they left on my face. So last night, after cleansing my face, I applied vinegar on my whole face and neck and I let it dry. After that, I applied my own mixture of moisturizer Biokos/Loreal Night Cream (Have no negative reactions to any of these). Know what?? My pimples have dried and shrunk and my face is smooth and glowing! I really should't have spent so much on expensive brands when the only thing I need sits in the kitchen!!

Sugar, A Natural Source of Glycolic Acid

We all know that sugar is derived from sugar cane which is a natural source of glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is the gentlest of all the AHAs like citric acid(citrus fruits), lactic acid(milk), malic acid(apples), acetic acid(vinegar) and so on and so forth. These acids are known to exfoliate the skin and hasten skin renewal and regeneration. However, products which contain these ingredients in varying amounts may also contain chemicals that could harm our skin. So, after doing various research on the internet and doing a mix and match of products on myself, I came up with this cleansing habit. Every night after removing makeup with sunflower oil, I mix white refined sugar with my favorite cleanser on my hands until I couldn't feel the granules and then I wash my face in circular motion. I don't clean my face with the granules since I have very sensitive sin and I'm allergic to all types of facial scrubs whether organic or commercially made. I also tried muscovado sugar but I prefer the white sugar. They have the same effect on my face but the muscovado sugar takes longer time to melt with the cleanser. After two weeks, here is the result: I have two cystic pimples from using BB cream and these have shrunk in size. The texture is smoother and not as oily as before. no new breakouts...Still experimenting on other organic solutions...will update soon...

VMV Hypoallergenics Product Reviews

VMV Hypoallergenics is a well known brand here and abroad. Their products claim to be "hypoallergenic" but this doesn't necessarily mean that the most sensitive skin will have no reaction or whatsoever to it. Being born with a skin that's so hard to please, I became intrigued and curious about their products. Despite of being pricey, I took the risk and road tested some of their best sellers. 

Here's my verdict:

1. VMV Illuminants+ Primary Brilliance Cream
This cream is non greasy and is easily absorbed by the skin. But one should take caution to use it gradually for at least 8 weeks as per the instruction in the box. It claims to give the skin a microdermabrasion effect since it contains kojic, glycolic, and phytic acid among others. Well, all I can say is that I wasn't expecting so much from this since I've been countlessly disappointed by pricey ones that do not deliver. However, this one is truly effective as well as pricey. It's just good that I got it with a discount so I paid less than the original price. There was a slight stinging sensation at first but then it disappears in a while. It doesn't whiten the skin,but rather, illuminates it with a certain glow just like a post peel effect. Skin becomes translucent and even. Some of my pimple marks (I only have a few) gradually lightened although they didn't vanish completely. Highly recommended.

2. VMV Essence Skin Saving Glycerin Soap
I really love this soap. I didn't exactly buy this but I got in exchange for the liquid foundation that I returned to them because it's the wrong shade and they have no stock for months already. My sin became soft and glowing which amazed me because it doesn't claim to whiten the skin. Everytime I use this, I can feel that my skin is soft, even, and glowing. The only downside is that it melts easily so I cut it in many pieces so it could last me for days and weeks. I've tried so many soaps but this one doesn't give me the small red patches that I usually get when using other soaps.

3. VMV Fine Finish Pore Minimizer Toner
Another one of my favorites. Got this together with the glycerin soap which I have no intention of buying. I'm not a fan of toners and astringents because they tend to overdry my sensitive and oily skin. At first use, I was skeptical because it has a strange smell and leaves a tight feeling on my face. Maybe because of the alcohol. So I let it dry and I did not apply anything on my face not even powder. At the end of the day, I observed that my skin looks clear and less oily. Ever since I used this, my oily skin became manageable and I don't need to blot with oil sheets to keep my oilies at bay. Will definitely repurchase.

4. VMV Essence Skin Saving Superwash Hair+Body Milk Shampoo
I don't like this much. This works like a clarifying shampoo with a hint of detergent scent. It makes my hair dry and hard to comb. I also used this as a body wash and it didn't work for me. It dried out my skin. I'll definitely will be using this once a week as a clarifying shampoo and after I finish with this one, I'll try the Clark Superwash. It is SLS free unlike this one which contains SLS.

5. VMV Armada SPF 45
I don't like this too. Leaves a white cast on my face and hard to blend. Good thing it is fragrance free and paraben free.


6. VMV Armada SPF 30
Much thinner in consistency and easier to blend. Good for oily skin. But don't apply much because it could also leave a whitish cast.

7. VMV Illuminants Face, Hand and Body Lotion

This is much thicker in consistency and less concentrated than the Illuminants Treatment Cream. So, I suppose it is also milder. I can apply this on my face but not on my neck. I developed rashes upon applying it on my neck.

8. Grandma Minnie's The Big, Brave Boo Boo Balm

I bought one of this to help with insect bites. It soothes itchiness, rashes and burns. However, I find it too expensive and less effective than HHN Sunflower Beauty Oil for itchiness and Centella gel for wounds and burns. And it is also sticky. But I can recommend it for babies with super sensitive skin.I also hate it when it melts when the weather is hot making it messier to apply and put it in my bag.

9. VMV Illuminants Axilight

I've read a lot of raves as to its efficacy in whitening underarms while controlling odor and perspiration. But I hate this. It doesn't suit me. I developed an allergic reaction from this and even darkened my underarm. So I just gave it away.

10. VMV Superskin Spring Fresh Oil Free Nourisher

This is VMV's best selling moisturiser for oily skin. It has a subtle scent which reminds me of coconut oil. It is non greasy and I've tried using it on my face and hands. It did not break me out but it still made me a bit oily after an hour or two. I also find it expensive for a moisturiser and there is no significant improvement on my face while using this.

11. VMV Velvet Matte Lipstick 

I have this in Fireclay. Smells and tastes like clay. The color is rich but it easily fades. You need to reapply often.

There are still lots of VMV products I'd like to try but I'm still waiting for a sale so if they don't work well for me, at least I paid less than the price. Ciao!!
